MEDAL BLOOMS 

@ COMMONWEALTH GAMES Athlete's Village  

Commissioned by  SWELL SCULPTURE

 This work responded directly to the surrounding local environment and drew upon the local wildflowers, in particular the cheerful Climbing Guinea Flower which inhabits the coastal regions of Eastern Australia. The enthusiasm of colour and curvilinear energy invites the public to immerse themselves in the incredible achievements and feats that unfolded during the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games. 

 The Site Plan for the 30M x 10M site [variable] began from a 1M circle and extended outwards in 1M wide "ripples" alternating with 1M wide paths for easy access.

Each day the Medal Winners names were printed in soft orange on the Blooms, starting from the centre.  700mm high for Gold, 600mm for Silver, and 500mm for Bronze Medal Winners.
